<title>Railway Customers demand regulation to improve service</title>
<link>http://www.teamsters.ca/en/news/1510/railway_customers_demand_regulation_to_improve_service</link>
<description>Brothers and Sisters,The following is an article concerning the dissatisfaction that customers have with Canada&amp;#39;s two (2) largest railways. The federal Liberals agree. As I am not a customer of one of these railroads, I do not have a definitive opinion on this. However, if they treat their customers the way they treat their employees or if CP organizes this department the way they do the ones that I have to deal with, I can surely sympathize. The telling remark in this article for me, wasCliff Mackay&amp;#39;s. Mr. Mackay is thePresident of the Railway Association of Canada (RAC), the lobby group for railways. When the railways need something done politically or regulatorily, they send in RAC.Mr. Mackay accuses the elected officials of the federal opposition party of this country, of lacking &quot;intellectual curiosity&quot;.Personally, that sounds like a semi-polite way of calling them &amp;#39;stupid&amp;#39;. What kind of arrogance would bring about a comment like that? And what does it say about how the railways feel concerning the men and women of this country who elect these MP&amp;#39;s? Or about a companythat would hire the man making such a comment? Perhaps its this kind of arrogance that is causing the problems that the shippers (and the employees) are talking about.Stay safe, stay strong, stay united,Bill BrehlPresidentTCRCMWEDCN Rail says call by shippers and Liberals for regulation threatens innovationBy: Ross Marowits, The Canadian Press </description>
